The Dolorous Passion has inspired many since it first appeared in 1833. Based on the visions of the Lord’s Passion and Death as seen by Anne Catherine Emmerich, a German Augustinian nun. The text was noted by Clemens Brentano a famous writer of the day.

We will post a new reading for each day of Lent.

THE COLLECT FOR ASH WEDNESDAY

(Book of Common Prayer)

Almighty and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
